Kinship Care Navigator
Luginia has worked in the social services field for seventeen years. She has supported families across the lifespan, from early childhood development to elder care. In her personal role as a kinship parent she discovered a passion for helping other parents to celebrate accomplishments in their families’ lives, no matter how small. She encourages all families to reach out for support when times get hard. She believes in helping parents to advocate not only for their child’s needs, but also for their own, first as an individual and then as kinship parents.
Luginia and her husband have three adult children and two grandchildren. They became mom and dad to their oldest granddaughter when she was two years old by way of guardianship. There have been many joys and challenges over the years including physical and mental health diagnoses. These unexpected diagnoses created a need to explore advocating techniques to improve life for their daughter and their family. Through this life changing experience, as well as training and facilitating support groups, Luginia came to understand the impact of trauma and attachment on the whole family unit.
Luginia is excited to be a part of the Kinship Care Resource Center team as a kinship navigator and looks forward to working with families in hopes of helping to meet their resource and support needs.
